From the Terrace

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward star in this aggressively melodramatic epic. Clocking in at 2 hours and 24 minutes we see the beginning of a romance and the cooling of the first romance that is squelched by an ambitious husband who seeks fortune more than love. He buries himself in his career until he meets an innocent and charming young girl who captures his heart and excites the orchestra. Soon he is put in a no-win scenario where he is offered a partnership with a Wall Street firm on the condition that he stays married to his cheating wife. This fiercely charged soap opera is chock full or hilarious lines and overwrought musical flourishes. If you like your tearjerkers infused with empty steel mills and icy water this is for you.  C-
